FD-1A-50+ Vacuum Freeze Dryer – Standard Bulk-Sample Configuration

    Product Introduction
The FD-1A-50+ Vacuum Freeze Dryer is a laboratory freeze-drying system designed for removing moisture from suitable aqueous solutions, suspensions, and paste-like materials. This model uses the standard bulk-sample configuration, making it suitable for materials placed directly on sample trays.
The FD-1-50 Plus series is available in five configurations: standard bulk-sample, stoppering, manifold, manifold with stoppering, and T-type manifold for up to 24 containers. The FD-1A-50+ standard configuration features a 0.12 m² drying area, a −55°C unloaded cold-trap temperature, and a specified drying capacity of 2 L per 24 hours.
With PLC and touchscreen control, sample temperature monitoring, freeze-drying curve storage, automatic hot-gas defrosting, and inert gas backfilling, the FD-1A-50+ supports routine laboratory sample preparation and freeze-drying process development.

    Performance Features
    •  Integrated drying chamber: One-piece chamber construction without bonded joints, designed for high strength and reduced leakage risk.
    • PLC touchscreen control: Provides convenient equipment operation and process monitoring.
    •  Sample temperature monitoring: Two sample temperature sensors enable real-time temperature observation.
    • Freeze-drying curve recording: Displays and stores process curves for review and process optimization.
    •  USB data export: Supports exporting stored freeze-drying data to a USB drive.
    •   Pre-freezing function: The cold trap can be used for pre-freezing applications.
    •  Automatic hot-gas defrosting: Uses hot-gas defrost technology for efficient cold-trap defrosting.
    • Low-temperature cold-trap drying: Supports specialized low-temperature cold-trap drying applications.
    •  Inert gas backfilling: An imported gas-filling valve supports nitrogen or other suitable inert gas introduction after drying.
    • Reliable refrigeration: Uses a branded compressor designed for stable operation and low noise.
    •  Multiple series configurations: The FD-1-50 Plus family offers options for bulk materials, vial-based samples, and manifold-connected containers.

    Working Principle

The FD-1A-50+ uses vacuum freeze-drying, also known as lyophilization, to remove moisture from frozen samples.
    1. Sample preparation: Suitable material is placed on the sample trays and frozen.
    2. Vacuum establishment: The vacuum pump reduces the pressure inside the drying system.
    3. Sublimation: Under suitable vacuum and temperature conditions, frozen water changes directly into water vapor without passing through the liquid phase.
    4. Moisture capture: The cold trap condenses and captures water vapor, helping protect the vacuum system.
    5. Process monitoring: The PLC system monitors sample temperature and records freeze-drying curves.
    6.  Defrosting: After the process, hot-gas defrosting helps remove accumulated ice from the cold trap.
    7. Protective backfilling: Nitrogen or another compatible inert gas can be introduced after drying to support sample preservation where required.
Successful freeze-drying depends on sample formulation, freezing conditions, chamber pressure, temperature settings, and the material's eutectic or collapse characteristics.
